Martin Grothmaak is a German graphic designer, artist and photographer. He is one of the three founders of Projekttriangle, a multi-disciplinary design studio in Stuttgart working across the fields of contemporary graphic design, interaction design and interior design. After working as a photographer he studied communications design at the University of Applied Sciences Schwäbisch Gmünd, before joining the London office of MetaDesign.

In 1998, Martin and his two partners Prof. Danijela Djokic and Prof. Jürgen Späth founded Projekttriangle Design Studio immersing themselves in projects in interactive media, interface design, corporate design, photography, media arts, print applications, exhibitions and interiors.

In its work so far, the studio’s approach means that work done on many projects is a crossover between media, art, design, architecture and technology with a constant focus on creating new ways of communicating and documenting social interaction with design. Based in Stuttgart, Projekttrinagle works for Mercedes Benz, Lufthansa, the Klitschko Brothers, Hamburger Kunstverein, several Fraunhofer Institutes, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, Walter Knoll, Mann+Hummel, Frankfurt Hahn Airport and Allianz Global Investors.

The studio has been the recipient for numerous awards locally and internationally recognising the studio’s impeccable typographic execution and clear design thinking.

Martin has also lectured internationally on media art and design including time at the Zurich University of the Arts, the Stuttgart State Academy of Art and Design, the Merz Akademie the MAT Media Arts & Technology Graduate Program at the University of California. He has also been a guest lecturer at the Royal College of Art. In 2009 he was invited as a participant to contribute a design for the famous German sailing competition cup “Kieler Woche”.

He is also one of the founders of Fullartistcontrol, a project of multiples that provides designers, photographers, writers and other creatives a vehicle for their work. Recent projects have seen Martin working as a photographer portraying public figures in the cultural sector, and in 2010 he was a contributing photographer to BILLY – 30 Jahre jung/30 Jahre alt, a celebration of Ikea’s perennially popular bookcase.
